Hayes & Coney Hall Ward Councillors

Councillors Josh Coldspring-White, Alexa Michael and Thomas Turrell have welcomed the completion of the first phase of improvement works to Coney Hall Recreation Ground, which have seen two former tennis courts turned into a new learn to ride bike area for local children and new table tennis tables installed.

A fun day was held on Saturday 25th May to raise money for the second phase of works which will see the disused tarmac area elsewhere in the park turned into a basketball and football shooting area

The project has been organised by the Friends of Coney Hall Recreation Ground and has been jointly by Bromley Council through the jubilee parks fund, which saw £1 million investing into improvements schemes across the boroughs parks. The project in Coney Hall has also been financially supported by other council initiatives.

The upgrades to the remaining tennis are a separate project which have been funded by the Lawn Tennis Association.

Councillor Thomas Turrell thanked the Chair of the Friends Group, Alison Registry for all her hard work, he said:

A huge thank you to Alison for everything she has done to raise money for this important project. Over the past years we have six tennis courts which were in a sorry state transformed. The Lawn Tennis Association have funded improvements to the remaining courts to bring them back to life, and the Friends and Council have funded a complete transformation of the remaining courts, into a new and exciting use. Alison has been amazing, not just being the brains behind this but also her tireless work to raise the money for this.

I look forward to supporting Alison as we get going with phase two. Adding even more facilities to the recreation ground so that future generations can enjoy this treasured community asset.”
