The petition calling on Transport for London (TfL) and the Mayor of London to reinstate the previous 138 timetable has been presented at City Hall.

Cllr. Thomas Turrell AM, in his capacity as London Assembly Member for Bexley & Bromley, presented the petition to the London Assembly at City Hall. The petition had 858 signatures and called on the Mayor of London to reinstate the 138 timetable that was previously in place, ensuring there are three services an hour, rather than just two. The 138 is the only bus route that goes into the heart of Coney Hall, where thousands of people live.

The petition comes as TfL announced they would be scrapping the 654 bus route between Addington Village and the Ramsden Estate, despite 85% of those surveyed opposing the move and Councillors raising concerns that further reductions in service would lead to increased crowding on routes like the 358, 246 and 146.

Now that the petition has been presented, we await a response from the Mayor of London, which we will receive in four months.

Cllr. Turrell said: “I was pleased to present this petition at City Hall, making sure residents’ concerns are taken directly to Sadiq Khan.

“It is clear that residents across Hayes & Coney Hall are opposed to the changes to the 138 timetable – TfL has cut a vital service for our community. This contradicts the promise the Mayor made that imposing ULEZ on us would lead to better bus services.

“I look forward to hearing the Mayor’s response. Residents can rest assured that my colleagues and I will continue to push for Hayes, Coney Hall & Keston Village to get the transport investment it deserves.”
