Hayes, Coney Hall and Keston Village’s Local Councillors welcomed the opening of the new Civic Centre earlier this month.
Churchill Court opened in full on the 14th October, with Bromley Council holding it’s inaugural meeting in the new Civic Centre chamber. As well as providing up-to-date facilities to the Council, the move means Bromley taxpayers will save money for generations to come as a result of the rent received from vacant units in the building.
Josh, Alexa and Thomas all spoke in favour of a motion to reinstate the Winter Fuel Payment and called on the Government to scrap the callous policy. Whilst the motion passed, it was voted against by Bromley Labour and the Liberal Democrats.
They also welcomed progress on the Bromley Nightlife Survey, as well as the securing of new grants to refurbish leisure centres at West Wickham and Orpington.
Cllrs Josh Coldspring-White, Alexa Michael and Thomas Turrell commented:
“We welcome the opening of Churchill Court and thank Council officers for delivering these new facilities which will save taxpayers in Hayes, Coney Hall and Keston Village money long into the future.
“We’re pleased to have called on the Labour Government to reinstate the Winter Fuel Payment in full to vulnerable residents who fall just outside the eligibility criteria – and it comes as no surprise that Bromley Labour and Liberal Democrats failed to stand up for local residents.
“We will continue to be a strong voice for residents at the Civic Centre on the issues that matter to them most.”
