Transport for London (TfL) have informed local Councillors that changes are coming to the 638 bus route
From 2 November, the following journeys will no longer operate:
- The 07:27 journey from Coney Hall to Kemnal Technology College. This journey is lightly used, with most trips made between Coney Hall and Bromley where route 119 runs in parallel every 10-12 minutes between these points. Routes 138 and 246 also provide alternative services along parts of the route
- The 07:39 journey from Bromley South to Kemnal Technology College. The buses at 07:27, 07:31 and 07:35 will continue to operate
- The 16:12 journey from Eltham College to Coney Hall. The bus at 15:54will still operate, which starts from Chislehurst School for Girls
This follows the complete withdrawal of the 654 bus route – despite residents being promised a ‘ULEZ dividend’ of increased public transport access. Local Councillors will be writing to TfL to express their frustration at the news.
Cllr Josh Coldspring-White said: “Yet again, TfL is cutting frequency to bus routes locally. Residents across Hayes, Coney Hall and Keston Village were promised a ULEZ dividend – at the very least, TfL should look to increase frequency on additional bus routes, so residents have the high-quality public transport they rightfully expect.”
