Residents may have noticed that the Diamond Jubilee clock in Station Approach Hayes is showing the correct time again.
The clock had been stuck at 8 o’clock for several months, despite continued efforts from Cllr Alexa Michael to put pressure on Council officers to get the clock repaired. After she proved that Bromley Council was responsible for the maintenance of the clock, a repairer was called in to fix the clock. Cllr Michael has also sought assurances that the clock would be serviced once a year and moved forward or back one hour according to the season. She said: “There is no point in having a public clock if it is showing the wrong time. It has been established that the Council has a duty to maintain the clock, even though it belongs to Hayes (Kent) Village Association. After months the clock is working again and I intend to keep it that way.”
