Weekend opening of Waldo Road to begin in New Year

The Waldo Road Reuse and Recycling Centre will reopen at weekends in late January 2026, while work to complete the upgrade of the infrastructure at the site continues.

Details of when residents will be able to book appointments to visit will be made available in due course. Residents will be able to dispose of a limited range of bulky items from the last weekend in January 2026. Residents will initially visit the site through the Baths Road entrance, which will be carefully controlled to minimise inconvenience for all. When the site fully re-opens, access will once again be via Waldo Road.

A full booking system will remain available at the Churchfields Road site.

The weekend garden waste site at Norman Park will close this Saturday, 29 November, along with other sites. All sites will then reopen after Christmas to help residents recycle their Christmas tree and dispose of other garden waste. These garden waste sites will then reopen again to coincide with the spring gardening season.

Cllr Thomas Turrell, who is also the representative for Bexley and Bromley on the Greater London Authority, said: “It’s good news that the Waldo Road Reuse and Recycling site will start operating again in the New Year. Reuse and recycling form a major part of the Council’s waste strategy, so it is essential that residents can easily take items to the centre for this purpose.”
