Save our Streets! Local Councillors campaign for additional speed cameras across Hayes, Coney Hall & Keston Village

Hayes & Coney Hall Ward's local Councillors have begun a petition to the Mayor of London for new speed cameras.
Cllrs Coldspring-White, Michael and Turrell have been working to reduce speeding across the Ward. Measures that have been taken include the installation of new Vehicle Activated Signs on Bourne Vale, Pickhurst Lane and Baston Road, as well as an increase in temporary signage in Bourne Vale to remind drivers to stick to the 30mph legal limit.

However, with accidents occurring in areas like Bourne Vale, your local Councillors, along with resident Diane Smith, decided to petition the Mayor of London directly. We have asked him to instruct Transport for London (TfL), which is ultimately responsible for road safety across the capital, to install speed cameras in key speeding hot-spots across the ward.

Cllr Josh Coldspring-White said: “Like many residents, I am tired of seeing incidents of speeding and dangerous driving occur across the Ward. In collaboration with Bromley Council, we have delivered new measures but it is clear we need to go further to end the blight of speeding traffic on local roads.

“Sadiq Khan and TfL are responsible for road safety in London but do not give us the funding we need to tackle this issue – so we’re taking the concerns of residents directly to City Hall. We are giving Sadiq Khan a clear choice: either make sure residents in Bourne Vale, Pickhurst Lane, Gates Green Road and Heathfield Road can live on safer streets, or do nothing and risk further accidents.
